It may still be July, but it’s never too early to start thinking about your kids heading back to school. From shopping to coming up with creative lunch ideas, there’s a lot going on during this second half of summer. And one thing you definitely cannot forget about is making sure your child is healthy before they head back to class.
Walmart is looking to help kids get a healthy start for the new school year with their Walmart Wellness Day. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time on Saturday, July 21, nearly 5,000 Walmart stores nationwide will participate in the free event, which will provide students and their families with health services like immunizations and health screenings (plus free vision screenings in select locations).
In addition to screenings for children, adults will also have access to blood glucose and blood pressure checks and parents will be able to speak one-on-one with a Walmart pharmacist about health concerns they may have as their child heads back to school.
Since Walmart began offering these health events, the megastore has provided more than 2.2 million free screenings across the country. According to the company, hundreds of thousands of people turn out for each Walmart Wellness Day, making it America’s largest single-day health fair event.
