You know that old adage, “When you look good, you feel good”? Well, while you might find this sentiment to be true, you may also think that once you hit a certain age, you’ll cease to care too much about your appearance.
But that may not actually be the case. A group of sisters, all in their 90s, recently confirmed that style always matters when a video surfaced of two of them fixing their other sister’s hair as she lay in bed under hospice care in her home. Check out the touching clip below:
“Let’s get her bangs like she wears them,” one sister can be heard saying. Honestly, this is so #siblinggoals. I know there’s no one I’d trust more than my own sister to make sure I look glam under any circumstances.
The video came courtesy of the woman’s grandchild, who wrote, “My 97-year-old grandma is being loved by her sisters, all in their 90s. When my sisters are old, I will brush their hair and make sure they look pretty, until the very end. My grandma got her wish to have hospice in her own home.”
People on Facebook were pretty bowled over by these sisters’ bond, which clearly lasted a lifetime.
“This is absolutely the sweetest video I have seen. I have no sisters, but, I hope that whatever home my husband puts me in, I will be confused and think everyone is my sister. It will be nice,” read one comment.
“As a person who cares for those in the final stretch of their lives, I take great pride in brushing the hair of those I care for until their final days or even moments at times,” wrote another. “It’s so crucial to never let go of who they are and what is important to them – especially when they can no longer express it for themselves. For some ladies, giving them fresh nice clothing and a fresh face before their visitors arrive for the day is the biggest and most beautiful act of dignity and respect you can give to them in those difficult moments.”
It gives us the warm fuzzies to know that the woman above has such a strong support system in place. May we all be so lucky.
