Walt Disney World Reveals New Slinky Dog Coaster Car

Walt Disney World has many changes coming to the resort over the next five years. The new Toy Story Land planned for Disney’s Hollywood Studios has fans excited, for sure. In particular, the Slinky Dog Dash Coaster looks to be the new addition’s centerpiece attraction.

Fans waiting for news about the upcoming park expansion got a sneak peek at the new ride! And, Disney presented it in the most creative way, of course!

You’ve gotta love those Green Army Men!

Slinky Dog Dash Coaster Nears Completion

The arrival of the Slinky Dog cars means the new coaster is definitely getting closer to completion! The cars came from a build and design team in Germany all the way to Florida. Workers on the Disney’s Hollywood Studios site couldn’t wait for the cars to arrive. Back on Aug. 1, Disney shared the news of the placement of the coaster’s final piece of track.

“There’s been tremendous teamwork… tremendous teamwork between our ride team, or facilities team and our show team,” said Shannon Mashchack, Senior Project Manager, Walt Disney Imagineering. “They have to work together to integrate all the parts and pieces that makes this the wonderful experience that it’s going to be.”

The Slinky Dog Dash will bring a new coaster to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Riders will experience a family-friendly attraction where Slinky Dog dashes, dodges, turns and drops around a track Andy built with his Mega Coaster Play Kit. Disney parks experts at TouringPlans.com anticipate the ride will have a minimum height requirement of between 32 and 35 inches. This means even little ones can enjoy a spin on the new ride!

Aliens Are Also Coming To Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Toy Story Land also has a second big attraction headed to the park. Alien Swirling Saucers features the cute little green guys Andy got from Pizza Planet. They zoom around in their toy flying saucers and try to capture the rider’s rocket toy vehicle with “The Claw.” Sounds like out-of-this-world fun!

Disney recently confirmed Toy Story Land is expected to open sometime in the Summer of 2018. We can’t wait!

Disney Just Shared A First Look At Star Wars Land And It’s Breathtaking

Back in April, Disney released a sneak peek at concept art for a new, “Star Wars”-inspired land, slated to open in 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, and Disneyland park at Disneyland Resort.

Over the weekend, as part of the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek unveiled a detailed model of the land, officially titled Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which will include two new attractions. Running since 2009, the D23 Expo offers exclusive experiences for Disney fanatics, including sneak peaks of upcoming films, celebrity appearances, and previews of upcoming attractions at its parks.

“Both ‘Star Wars’-inspired lands will transport guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port, and one of the last stops before Wild Space, where ‘Star Wars’ characters and their stories come to life,” Disney said in a blog post about the expansion.

A must-see for fans of the epic franchise, each land will cover 14 acres in its respective park, making it the largest single-themed expansion at either of the parks. There will be two signature attractions as part of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, one that lets guests take control of Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and one that puts guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

“This is the most ambitious land we’ve built to date,” Chapek said at the unveiling. Such an expansive attraction comes with a hefty price tag. The lands reportedly cost about $1 billion each. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the latest in a string of new park lands and attractions, which include the “Avatar”-themed land Pandora: The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando, a “Guardians of the Galaxy” revamp of the Tower of Terror ride at Disneyland and another new land in the works at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Toy Story Land, slated to open summer 2018.

Just in time for the opening of new lands in 2019, “Star Wars: Episode IX” is also expected to be released in summer 2019 (Episode VIII, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” hits theaters Dec. 15, 2017).

This Video Takes You Inside Disney’s New Flight Of Passage Avatar Ride

Attention, “Avatar” fans! Not only has Disney announced four upcoming “Avatar” sequels, Disney World has finally opened an entire world devoted to the animated film. The new themed area, titled Pandora — The World Of Avatar, contains a ride called Flight of Passage that offers as close to an immersive experience inside the world of Pandora as possible.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Pandora is the world where “Avatar” takes place, and Disney’s doing all that it can to make you feel a part of it. The Disney World attraction will officially open on May 27, but a small audience got the chance to preview the ride, and let’s just say they were impressed.

One reviewer called it “next-level cool,” while another said she “came out with tears I loved it so much.”

Thankfully, video footage of the ride was captured, and now, everyone can experience what it’s like to ride on the back of a banshee without leaving the comfort of their own homes. This should definitely hold you over until you’re able to visit the attraction in real life.

The immersive experience allows you to soar through Pandora’s skies, ride underneath crashing waves and literally feel the wind in your face along the way. There are even times when you can feel the Banshee’s breath on you because Disney made sure this was a physical experience as well as a visual one.

Just like the movie, the visuals are breathtaking, and it’s hard not to get lost in this world, even just watching this video. So, imagine how it feels to experience the ride in person. It’s pretty incredible, I’d bet.

Disney World

According to the official website, this ride is great for folks of all ages. You must be 44 inches or taller to ride, but it’s open to kids, tweens, teens and adults.

Flight of Passage is just one of the attractions within Pandora — The World Of Avatar, too. You can also take a ride down the Na’vi River and be immersed in the bioluminescent rainforest. If you’ve ever dreamed of stepping into the “Avatar” film, well, your wish has been granted.
