Prince William Nods Off At His First Post-Baby Event

It’s no secret that parents of newborns typically don’t get a lot of shut-eye. Middle of the night feedings and diaper changes are no joke.

Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed their third child, a baby boy, on April 23. And it seems those sleepless nights are already taking a toll on the royal dad.

He was spotted nodding off at his first official event since the birth, a service to observe Anzac Day, a day that honors fallen Australian and New Zealand veterans.

Aww, poor guy! I’m sure his apparent inability to stay awake does not indicate a lack of respect for the veterans being honored.

Rather, he’s just going through something all new parents face: utter exhaustion.

Prince Harry and fiancée Meghan Markle were also in attendance. They looked a little more well-rested, though:

Despite being understandably tired, Prince William told reporters that the baby is doing “very well, thanks.”

He added that everyone is “in good form, luckily,” and even said, “Sleeping’s going reasonably well so far, so he’s behaving himself which is good.”

Here’s hoping that the whole family can get some much-needed rest!

What’s In A Name?

When the new baby boy was born, he didn’t have a name for a few days. But four days later, on April 27, the royal family finally announced his name!

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son Louis Arthur Charles,” an official Kensington Palace statement read. “The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.”

To be clear, the new baby’s name is pronounced the French way: Loo-ee (not like Lewis). There was a little bit of confusion initially when his name was announced.

The new baby Louis is fifth in line to the British throne, after grandfather Prince Charles, father Prince William and his two older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Before the name was announced, bookmakers’ favorites for the baby were Arthur, Albert and James.

The name Louis actually does have a connection to the British royal family, however. It is likely that Prince Louise was named after Prince Philip’s grandfather, as well as William’s great-great uncle.

“Louis” is also part of Prince William and Prince George’s full names; Prince William is William Arthur Philip Louis and Prince George is George Alexander Louis.
