Pink And Kelly Clarkson Stole The Show At The 2017 AMAs

Pink and Kelly Clarkson opened the American Music Awards last night in the most incredible way: The pop stars performed together for the first time ever, singing R.E.M.’s iconic song “Everybody Hurts.” And they were certainly a tough act to follow!

News of their duet came just days before the American Music Awards took place. Fans were immediately excited to tune in because it’s not often that a powerhouse duo like this come together.

If you missed the live airing of the AMAs, you can watch Pink and Clarkson share the stage below:

Based on the reactions after the performance, fans were not disappointed. People on Twitter referred to the duet as “beyond amazing”:

There were no theatrics to go along with their performance—no back-up dancers or extravagant light shows. According to fans, all these two women need are their voices to make for a stellar show:

A beautiful performance, no need for great dancers, fireworks, you just need them with their powerful and virtuous voices to leave everyone with their mouths open. humble like few artists

Now fans want to know when they can expect the two to collaborate on an album:

@kelly_clarkson and @Pink#AmericanMusicAwards2017 duet gave me chills. Submitting request for you to record an album together and tour. Status of request?

We’d love to listen to that!

Their performance was dedicated to all of the first responders who “ran towards danger” and protected people from natural disasters and mass shootings this year, according to the Hollywood Reporter. What a way to honor such men and women!

The artists also performed on their own later on during the awards show. Clarkson performed a snippet of the song “Miss Independent” and also sang “Love So Soft” from her latest album:

And Pink took her solo performance to new heights—literally. She performed on the side of the Marriott Hotel in L.A., making for a live show unlike any other.

These women were incredible together and on their own, and perhaps even better than their vocals is the amount of respect they have for each other.

Pink posted about sharing the stage with Clarkson on Instagram, writing “You can’t be an actual human. That voice.”

And Clarkson posted a photo of herself and Pink onstage, writing that the experience was “#trulyanhonor”:

Clarkson noted that it was a night she “will never forget.” The rest of us feel the same way.

And just in case you are craving a watch of the original R.E.M. video as much as we are right now, here you go. Try to watch and not get chills. Can you believe the “Automatic For The People” album came out back in 1992?
