There’s a new flavor of M&Ms available for the holiday season: Peanut Brrr-ittle M&Ms!
They sound tasty, right? But are they worth a buy?
I first laid eyes upon this new flavor after a harrowing hour of shopping at Target. It was harrowing because I had my two young kids with me, which meant I had to push that giant two-seater cart down every aisle while doling out Goldfish on demand and trying to keep my kids’ shrieking to a minimum.
By the time we made it to the checkout counter, I was a shell of my former self. Then my eyes fell upon none other than the candy-coated shells of Peanut Brrr-ittle M&Ms. I was intrigued!
I love M&Ms and their specialty flavors (caramel M&Ms with a glass of red wine will soothe what ails you), so I tossed a bag onto the conveyor belt. Had I bought two, the second bag would have been 50 percent off, but I’m a discerning shopper. I wanted to taste this creation before I started stockpiling it in my pantry.
Finally, after the kids were in bed, I released the Peanut Brrr-ittle M&Ms. (Side note: I know yellow M&M is just a cartoon character, but it makes me sad to see him shivering! Poor little guy).
Peanut Brrr-ittle M&Ms are larger than your traditional M&M. This made me happy, because they were easier to grab and shove into my beak.
As for the taste, I was happy to find some serious peanut butter flavor. I would compare them to Peanut M&Ms, except without the crunchy peanut inside. Instead, the Peanut Brrr-ittle M&Ms are more… brittle-y.
Did I love them? Honestly, no, not really. I enjoyed the combo of chocolate and peanut butter, which is, let’s face it, the best junk food pairing of all time. Otherwise, I felt the concoction was a bit too much. There was a slight chemical aftertaste, and they were overpoweringly sweet. I could only eat a few before I decided to go back to my first love, caramel M&Ms.
However, my husband had no such problems and devoured the entire bag.
All in all, I enjoyed this seasonal offering, especially since they come in a pretty green and red, perfect for serving at holiday parties. Maybe next year, M&Ms can try making a gingerbread flavor!?
