Jet Blue Airlines Now Serving In-Flight Ice Cream—But There’s A Catch
Could ice cream distract you from legroom?
JetBlue recently announced that it’s adding fancy, artisanal ice creams to the in-flight menu—no doubt generating favor with ice cream fans everywhere.
This new perk comes as a part of Mint, Jet Blue’s premium (aka business class) service. It also ties in with Jet Blue’s expansion across the country and will feature ice cream from creameries in Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco. The airline will offer a rotating selection of flavors, and the menu will change depending on your departure city.
There is a catch, however. You have to be a premium flyer to take advantage of the ice cream expansion pack. But honestly, being able to eat mint chocolate chip in the sky is almost worth the upgrade.
“These are the local artisanal ice creams you wait in line for on a hot summer night, not the industrial dairy dessert products that you’d find in other premium cabins,” said Jamie Perry, vice president of marketing in a press release. “Mint’s expansion gives us the opportunity to discover amazing new local partners across our network bringing the best ingredients and scrumptious sweets to our customers.”
If you’re departing from New York (out of JFK), you can snag a cup of Blue Marble organic ice cream. Current flavors include blueberry and blood-orange sorbet. If you’re leaving from LAX in Los Angeles, you’ll be scooping up Coolhaus, a cornerstone of the ice cream industry in Los Angeles. Flavors will include exciting mashups like dirty mint ice cream and strawberry mojito sorbet.

Flying out of San Francisco? Jet Blue is scooping up Double Rainbow, which has earned the title of best ice cream in America. You can currently get a cup of dulce de leche or raspberry sorbet. If you’re leaving sunny Florida, seal the cracks in your heart with ice cream from Miami’s The Frieze. Sample creative flavors like Indian mango sorbet and banana rama.
Finally, if you’re flying out of Boston Logan, you can score some Toscanini’s ice cream and enjoy signature flavors like brown butter, brown sugar and brownie ice cream and berry sorbet.
What do you think: Would some tasty scoops encourage you to book a flight with Jet Blue?
