Create A Gorgeous DIY Design On Your Floor Using Pennies
This is easier than it looks!
The summer months are usually perfect for fun in the sun, but with many of us still practicing some degree of social distancing, this summer may prove to be the best time for a home makeover. Since you’re no doubt spending more time at your home, you may as well use the extra time indoors to transform your space into your own oasis.
And why not start with one of the items you use the most?
That’s what Kat Von D did when she shared how many pennies it took her to DIY what she calls ‘the penny room floor’ in Casa Von D. The total? Nearly 29,000 – 28,928 to be exact.
This is also what jewelry designer Kelly Graham did when she decided to take her floor makeover to the next level by using 7,500 real pennies to redesign her entryway.
Graham remixed her floor by using old and new pennies to create a design that’s still intact nearly five years after she first installed it in 2015. Graham simply glued each penny in place to fit her design. After the initial gluing, she grouted the floor and coated it with clear resin.
You don’t need a lot of money or even have to be a designer to make this makeover work. This Etsy shop offers several design templates to help you get started. If you have your own design in mind, this shop will even customize a penny floor design for you.
To make sure your DIY project doesn’t turn into an OMG one, Future Floors & Designs has created a detailed step-by-step tutorial to guide you through the process to help you nail your penny floor installation.
It looks like all you need is a little time, patience, and a few thousand pennies to pull off this DIY floor design.
So, are you ready to give your floor a makeover?
