When it comes to giving back, rapper Drake is somewhat of a superstar. On Monday, the singer donated $25,000 to Miami Senior High School, where he filmed a music video. Then he showed up on campus and granted a $50,000 scholarship to a University of Miami student.
He wasn’t done, though! On Tuesday, the entertainer dropped $50,000 on groceries for lucky shoppers at Sabor Tropical Supermarket. He came into the store around 4 p.m. and announced via megaphone that he would be paying for everyone’s groceries.
“No one knew he was coming at all, we just came to do groceries. Cameras were being set up so we were all wondering what was to happen,” shopper Guille Deza told E! News.
According to People.com, he may have been filming his charitable act for an upcoming music video for his song “God’s Plan.”
The rapper shook hands and took pictures with fans who asked. Deza took to Instagram to show off his encounter with the star:
“A real king [went] out and paid for everyone’s groceries in the store, all the while encouraging people to more lol. BE GOOD AND IT’LL COME RIGHT BACK AROUND!!! so much love and bless this man 100 times over for all his generosity,” Deza wrote.
That wasn’t the end of the rapper’s tour of generosity. He also surprised the residents of Lotus Village, a homeless shelter, and wrote a $50,000 check for the organization. He also handed out $150 Target gift cards to all 130 women living at the shelter and showered the 140 kids there with toys and games.
He’s kind of the MVP of being generous. Drake seemed pretty thrilled to be giving to others, posting on Instagram: “Last 3 days were the best I have had in a very long time…there’s nothing like seeing people experience a joyful moment when you can tell they really need it the most.”
What a guy!
