These Convertible Jorts Are Outrageous—And Expensive!
Jeans and shorts all rolled into one expensive price tag.
Sometimes you feel like wearing jeans, sometimes you feel like wearing shorts. So why not have one pair of pants that can do it all, right?
The idea of convertible jorts may seem nice in theory, but when you see this particular pair in action, you may start to reconsider. Especially once you see the price tag.
This pair of convertible jorts from Y/Project costs $425 on the Opening Ceremony website, and definitely got a lot of attention online. They’re definitely the latest puzzling fashion statement, and as much as you want to look away—you just can’t.
Now, there have been quite a few zany pairs of denim on the market, but this pair is definitely among the most bizarre. Chock it up to 2017 being the time for weird denim trends.
There’s been everything from clear panel “mom jeans” to completely clear jeans, and you can even wear tulle over your jean skirt. Think of a completely zany way to wear one of the most classic items, and it’s been done in 2017. Including these.
You have the Paris-based Y/Project brand to thank for the latest head-scratching fashion moment. They’ve created a pair of jeans where the pant legs are detachable, and therefore can also be worn as shorts. It seems practical, but considering the high-cut of the front and the back that shows your rear end, these become practically unwearable very quickly.
Then, there’s the fact that they’re retailing for $425. So, if their umm, let’s go with “unique” design didn’t have you questioning whether to make the purchase or not, they’re high price tag definitely will.
There are hits and misses in fashion, and this one definitely lands in the “miss” category for me, and most of the internet seems to agree.

And honestly, I can’t help but feel the same way.
Editor’s Note: At the time of publication, these jeans were no longer available on the Opening Ceremony website. However, if you really need your funky jeans fix, you could snatch up this Y/Project pair from FWRD.com, though they’ll set you back $570.
