How To Build Your Own Backyard Bowling Alley
If you didn't already have weekend plans, you do now!
Bowling fans, what could be better than having your own backyard bowling alley? Answer: not a whole lot.
The fellow (with the appropriate Imgur nickname “Makgyver87“) who created this says that his local bowling alley closed down, sooooooo … rather than wait for someone else to open one, he made his own.
Here are the plans. They’re kinda engineer-y to me, but maybe they will make sense to you.
Here’s the first concept:
And now he’s got the final design locked in.
Now, off to Home Depot for a whole lotta wood.
Here, the alley is beginning to take shape.
You can see it’s got gutters and everything!
This is his “pully pin reset system.” Note the rope you pull on the right side, so you can “set ’em up” again. And again.
Voila! Who needs to go to the bowling alley when you have this beauty right in your own backyard?
Here’s a close-up of the clever pulley system.
And, of course, nighttime backyard bowling is possible thanks to the addition of lights. No word on the plan for rain or snow.
While we couldn’t locate a video of the above setup, here’s a different DIY backyard bowling alley in action:
