If your wi-fi seems slow or has an inconsistent connection, check these out.
Sweet Wi-Fi, nectar of life and ubiquitous Internet connectivity. Except for when it’s not working for absolutely no reason. Then? IT’S. THE. WORST. Are you like me, tired of unplugging and plugging the router back in? Or sick of just plain crappy speeds when you’re paying for more?
Internet issues are often due to your router, not your modem or your Internet provider (although those can certainly play a role). I recommend you first check out our 3 tips to get stronger wi-fi and our recommendation to improve your overall wi-fi quality see if that helps. If those don’t work, then look at these recommended routers.
In an effort to help banish the Wi-Fi blues for good, here are the top 3 expert picked wi-fi routers to ease your woes:
The Best Router For The Money
Gotta go with the TP-Link Archer C7. I’m not only recommending it, I’m a proud owner, having grabbed one of these babies back in March. As of this writing it’s on sale for $90, which is a steal at 36% off. It has incredible range, 2Ghz and 5Ghz bands and you can set it to automatically reset overnight. According to The Wirecutter, it’s “the best Wi-Fi router (for most people)”.
Haven’t had to unplug and plug back in since I bought it. A gem really.

The Budget Router
Looking for something even cheaper that still does a great job? Get the TP-Link TL-WDR3600. At the time of this post it’s selling for under $50. It’s not the latest and greatest and doesn’t quite have the range of the C7, but for the price it’s a great buy, and The Wirecutter says so too.

If there’s a rule of thumb with routers, it’s that price is usually commensurate with speed. This D-Link AC3200 Ultra Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router is the rocketship of routers, with blazing fast speed and excellent range to go along with it’s futuristic looks. It actually looks like a spaceship.
While it clocks in at a hefty $287, PC Mag made this an Editor’s Choice.
