Aldi Is Finally Bringing Its Wine Advent Calendars To The U.S.
Your Christmas countdown is about to get a whole lot merrier!
Wine lovers will have one more reason to celebrate this coming holiday season when Aldi’s wine Advent calendars finally hit stores in the United States. Previously, the interactive wine-filled calendar was only available at the supermarket chain’s locations across the pond in the U.K, which was a bummer for those of us in the U.S. who wanted to snag one.
Set to hit stores on Nov. 7, this year’s edition of the wine Advent calendar will cost $69.99 and it holds 24 mini bottles of various wines, one for every day from Dec. 1 through Christmas Eve.
This is not the first time Aldi has packaged booze in a fun and convenient way, so we’re guessing their take on an Advent calendar will be just as great as their other award-winning alcoholic beverages.
If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of an Advent calendar, it’s a special, three-dimensional calendar, typically made of wood or cardboard, and it’s used to count down the days of Advent, the season leading up to Christmas Day on Dec. 25.
Each day on the calendar has a small door that can be opened to find a tiny treat or trinket inside.
Traditionally, Advent calendars are made for children, and the prizes found inside are of the candy or toy variety. Of course, Aldi’s wine-filled version is an adults-only treat.
Cheese Advent Calendars Coming, Too
Oh, and did we mention the chain is also rolling out a cheese-filled calendar for $12.99?
Nothing says the holidays like wine and cheese, and these adult Advent calendars sound like a surefire way to get in the Christmas spirit this year. They’d also make perfect gifts for the wine and cheese lovers in your life (just don’t forget to grab at least one for yourself!).
Not a wine lover? There are other boozy Advent calendars out there for craft beer aficionados, whiskey fans and more.
We’re big fans of this Craft Advent Box, which last year came in three styles: a vintage crate, a snowman theme and a “decorate your own” box. You can now pre-order your 2018 box, which includes a vintage crate and snowmen craft crate.
Though this box doesn’t actually come with any beer, it can hold 24 bottles and would be an incredible gift idea for any of the craft beer fanatics in your life.
