After This Train Station Flooded, Some People Decided To Make It Into A Swimming Pool
Would you go for a swim in the subway?
Flooding over the weekend in Sweden caused a train station in Uppsala to completely fill with water.
Obviously, the flooding meant the train could not run that day. But some of the locals decided to use the tunnels for a different sort of transportation: tubing.
And no, I don’t mean like tube like the London subway. I mean like backyard pool party, water park tubing:
Yep, that’s right. These people all saw a bunch of stagnant water and instantly thought it was time for a dip.
One woman named Sarah Thoren even showed up in flippers, goggles and an umbrella, as if she were filming “Mary Poppins goes to Water World.”
Thoren, a photographer, posted a video of the shenanigans on her Instagram page and the post has since gotten more than 1,000 likes:
“I wouldn’t say it was the freshest water I’ve ever bathed in, so I had to have a real scrub in the shower afterwards,” Thoren told The Local.
It’s got raw sewage and hidden objects and it’s just gross in general. I mean, we’re talking about a flooded subway here. There were probably rats swimming with these people.
But, bad hygiene aside, it looks like these folks had some fun while they were there. A witness on hand said that security eventually shut down the impromptu water park over concerns they would get electrocuted, which, fair enough.
People are having fun; the security are trying to spoil it though. 😂 Update: The water might get electrified. 💥 Update #2: Do not repost this pic without asking; and, NO, I will NOT give away my rights to my pics for free to your commercial news organization. Update #3: No need to ask if you just link to the pic; just don’t do it commercially, ok? 👍
The city has since pumped all of the water out of the station, so all is back to normal. So if you are looking for a place to get your lazy river on in an urban setting, may I suggest this Texas hotel instead.
